At metrostation Leuvehaven the Maritime Museum presents the evolution of shipping through 25 shipmodels showecased on the walls of the metrostation. The rich collection of the museum is among the world’s best – one of the largest maritime collections in the world. It consists over a million items, showing the progress of six centuries of maritime history. As well as photographs, paintings and over 3000 model ships the collection also has real vessels, harbor cranes and even a lighthouse. These objects can be seen in the Leuvehaven, the very place where the port of Rotterdam was founded long ago. Nowadays an unique historical site in the center of Rotterdam, the maritime capital of Europe.
